Q. How do you clean a leather product at home?
1. Dust or Wipe Off Loose Dirt
Use a dry, soft cloth to remove dust and surface dirt. For shoes or textured leather, a soft brush can help lift debris from creases.
2. Make a Mild Soap Solution
Mix a few drops of mild soap with distilled water (roughly 1:10 ratio). Lightly dampen a cloth with the solution — don’t soak it.
3. Wipe the Leather
Gently wipe the surface using the damp cloth. Avoid over-wetting the leather, as too much moisture can damage it.
4. Dry Immediately
Use a clean, dry cloth to wipe away any remaining moisture. Let it air dry completely in a cool, shaded area. Avoid direct heat or sunlight.
5. Condition the Leather (recommended)
Once dry, apply a leather conditioner using a soft cloth. This restores moisture and flexibility, and prevents cracking. Follow the product’s instructions.

Q. How to tell if the Leather is Real or Fake?
🔍 1. Look at the Surface Grain
- Has natural imperfections—wrinkles, pores, slight scars, or inconsistencies in texture.
- Has a uniform, often overly smooth or patterned grain that looks machine-made.
👃 2. Smell Test
- Has a rich, earthy, natural smell.
- Smells like plastic or chemicals (sometimes faintly sweet or rubbery).
✋ 3. Touch and Flex Test
- Feels soft, flexible, and warm to the touch. When bent, it wrinkles and stretches naturally.
- Feels cold or plasticky. When bent, it often creases sharply or stays rigid.
🔥 4. Heat Test (Be Careful!)
(Only for small hidden areas or scraps!)
- Slightly chars and smells like burnt hair.
- Melts or bubbles, smells like burning plastic.
💧 5. Water Absorption Test
(Try on a hidden spot)
- Absorbs water slowly, darkening where the drop lands, then dries back.
- Water beads on the surface or rolls off—it won’t absorb.
🔎 6. Check the Edges
- Has a rough, fibrous edge.
- Often has a smooth, plasticky edge or reveals a fabric backing layer.
📄 7. Label or Price Tag Clues
- Often labeled as "Genuine Leather," "Top Grain," or "Full Grain." Usually more expensive.
- May be labeled "PU leather," "Vegan leather," "Bonded leather," or “synthetic.”
